Truly own your badass domains!

There are already decentralized second-level domains on the internet. Ethereum Name Service allows users to register second-level domains under the .eth TLD. Another service like Unstoppable Domains (.crypto) is similar in theory.

Then what makes badass Domains different?

They are the first decentralized second-level domains anchored into a decentralized root zone. You don’t have to trust anyone and you own your .badass domain entirely. It uses a fork of ENS + the Handshake root zone and has transferred ownership to a burn address.

The registry for .badass names is deployed on Ethereum and unowned by anyone, so it is completely decentralized. The .badass top-level domain is also unowned by anyone on the Handshake root zone. We have created this site to make it easier to register and manage .badass names.

To view .badass websites, you will need to use a resolver that can resolve decentralized Handshake subdomains on ENS.

How to use it?

For example, if you want to register dapp.badass, you just search “dapp” and check the availability. It’s still available, so click it and you’ll see the price.

Registering a name requires you to complete 3 steps:

  • Request to register: Your wallet will open and you will be asked to confirm the first of two transactions required for registration. If the second transaction is not processed within 24 hours of the first, you will need to start again from step 1.

  • Wait for 1 minute: The waiting period is required to ensure another person hasn’t tried to register the same name and protect you after your request.

  • Complete Registration: Click ‘register’ and your wallet will re-open. Only after the 2nd transaction is confirmed you'll know if you got the name.

It’s quite easy. Would you register one for yourself when your favorite domain is still available?
